Charity
From its earliest days, Freemasonry has been concerned with the care of orphans, the sick and the aged. This work continues today. In addition, large sums are given to national and local charities. In 2016 the Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF) was created which brought together the four charities below,
The Masonic Samaritan Fund is a charity funded by Freemasons and their families. We provide grants to eligible beneficiaries who have an identified health or care need and, faced with a long wait for treatment, care or support, are unable to afford their own private care
The Freemasons Grand Charity is funded by Freemasons and their families and is continuing a commitment to charitable support that began nearly 300 years ago. Individual Masonic Lodges make gifts and give aid to their own communities and every Province also gives large sums of money to regional causes. Nationally, our efforts are channelled through four main charity organisations. Every year we award grants on behalf of thousands of individuals. In 2011, these totalled 4.1 million, Since 1981 we have donated over 50 million pounds to national charities. Grants are currently given in the categories of medical research, vulnerable people and youth opportunities.
The Royal Masonic Trust for Girls and Boys is a charity funded by Freemasons which aims to relieve poverty and advance education for children and young people.
The Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution (RMBI) is part of the Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF) and has been providing full time and respite care for older Freemasons and their dependents since 1842. We operate 18 residential care homes across England and Wales offering high quality care.
Mundy Grove itself makes regular charitable donations to both local and wider causes.
